No, despite both being benzodiazepines they are different. Valium is the brand name for diazepam and Ativan is the brand name for lorazapam. The most important difference is that Valium is long-acting while Ativan is short-acting. Valium has the longest half-life of all benzos and takes several days to be completely eliminated from the body. Therefore a steady concentration can be achieved. In contrast, Ativan loses it’s effectiveness in a matter of hours so it is best for panic attacks where only a single dose is needed. Mg for mg, Ativan is also far more potent than Valium making it very difficult to taper off of after long-term use. Valium and Ativan are both similar in their actions. They can both produce “highs” but a tolerance is built in a matter of days eliminating this initial high. This is why benzos are known to be very addictive since a constant dosage increase is necessary to maintain this high. The “high” is just a calm, relaxed, and sometimes euphoric feeling. Although different in action, the high really is not much different from an OTC sleeping pill.
I have never heard of Mylan and googled it. There is a drug company called Mylan Laboratories but I found no drug called Mylan. You might want to check the name again.

I’m having strabismus eye surgery tomorrow and I’m a bit of a wimp. I’m more afraid of the IV than I am of the actual surgery! My surgeon told me that they’re giving me Valium before anything, and that I won’t even care about an IV, but he also said he could give me a little laughing gas if I want.
Does anyone have any experience or know if I’ll feel the IV or what? I’ve never been given Valium before.
It’s a muscle relaxant so i guess it will help you be more relaxed & less stressed about it. Hope all goes well with the eye surgery.

i was on the genetic one. 10mg . i asked him if i could take a non generic 10 mg because the generics were not doing nothing for me anymore.
“non-generic” Valium would be VALIUM. It does exactly the same thing that the generic version does. It is a minor tranquilizer. The 5 mg ones are yellow with a “V” cut out.

Anxiety disorders of course. Anxiety covers a few disorders like bipolar and OCD. Also, these drugs are quite dangerous and easily create a serious addiction.
i use the term coma lightly. my partner has krohns and we have no isurance and cannot afford any kind of medical treatment.
what they have given him doesnt help the pain.
i read somewhere that you can highly sedate someone with valium or drugs of the same kind.
he is 5’10 and 203lbs (muscualr). what would the safe amount be to give him so he is completely sedated and easily made concious.

the simple answer is that in high enough doses, you can sedate anyone with valium. but the “easily made conscious” part will be a little trickier. there is an antidote to benzodiazepines called flumazenil, but it must be administered through an IV. assuming you have access to the above, i’d start by giving 10 mg of valium (assuming oral dosing) at a time. but wait for at least 15 minutes before giving another dose because valium takes a while for peak effect. if using IV dosing, i’d start with 5mg at a time.
