I have test panic, and have been treating it along with a psychiatrist my anxiety issues.
I have to take a very important test tomorrow, so my doctor told me to take 1/2 of a 10mg Valium pill before I go to sleep since my test is early in the morning. At 8 am.
So considering I do take the pill at around 10 pm, will it still be in effect the next morning while I’m taking the test ?
I was wondering, wouldn’t it be wiser to take it before the test ?
Please help, I’m panicking about having panic !

if you take it in the morning you will be in no shape to take the test at all. Take it the way your doctor told you to and you will be fine
My shrink says that may be the route he wants to take now that the “prozac-class” of meds don’t seem to work. I have both Anxiety (nervous all the time) and depression. Does it make you feel “good”…”buzzed”? Can you drive a car, go to work etc while on it? I’d love to finally find my “Happy pill”….but I’m kinda scared about it.

I was prescribed fisrt Valium, then Adivan, for anxiety. But, neither pill is helping me. I seem more agitated when taking them, and I have been dealing with severe depression. Is there any recommendation ? I was wondering if this medicine was just having a reverse reaction with me, and I should ask if this could be considered common ?

Actually, reports of this exist, but it’s relatively rare-it’s called Benzodiazepine-Induced Disinhibition. The quote from Wikipedia (a good reference source where I looked up half life info on the various benzos) regarding paradoxical reactions to Valium bears repeating:
Rare paradoxical side effects can include: nervousness, irritability, insomnia, muscle cramps, and in extreme cases, rage, and violence.[23][24][25] If these side effects are present, diazepam treatment should be immediately terminated.
One thing I would encourage checking first, however, is the possibility of withdrawal reactions, which can occur between doses if you take them on a relatively frequent schedule. It’s more common in benzo’s with a short half-life like xanax. Ativan has a short to medium half life whereas Valium has a longer half life.

i am planning to bring me some valiums in a national trip. i have to travel by air so i have to know, is it allowed to bring valium with you? pls respond.
Prescription medicines are always allowed in an airport. There are only two situations where you could get into a problem:
First, if a medicine is in liquid form, you may not be allowed to carry it on board an airplane. Of course, that’s not a problem with Valium, whihc comes as a pill. But if you ever have a liquid medicine and you need it while in flight, you will have to get a small bottle (no more than 3 ounces in the US).
Second, if you have a controlled substance (like codeine or other opiate drugs), be sure that you carry an actual prescription for it, not just the pills. Some countries take a dim view of potentially dangerous drugs being carried around by passengers. The same goes for large quantities of drugs. If you have so much that it looks like they are not just for personal use, you had better have prescriptions or other proof of your reasons for carrying that much.
But the bottom line for you is that you should have no problem. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
