yes it can and in many cases it will work. Because it all depends on why you are depressed. I was extremely depressed when they gave it to me years ago. It was not just an anxiety but severe depression and that is what they gave me for about three months and it worked.
I realize it is normally used for anxiety but in many cases it is use in conjunction with anti-depressants. Of course you will need to consult your physician. However, if you already have a prescription you have already discussed this in some way. If you doctors does not realize that you are depressed, and you are just taking them without his knowledge, he needs to know about the depression too.
He may want you to take that or a combination of something else. There are many new medications on the market today that work as well, if not better than Valium that do have an anti-depressant agent in them and work for more than just one problem. Please make sure you tell him all of your problems and the reason you think you need the Valium. It is used more for your nerves and has a calming effect.
