I would guess it to have less side effects.
Answer:
yes it can and in many cases it will work. Because it all depends on why you are depressed. I was extremely depressed when they gave it to me years ago. It was not just an anxiety but severe depression and that is what they gave me for about three months and it worked.
I realize it is normally used for anxiety but in many cases it is use in conjunction with anti-depressants. Of course you will need to consult your physician. However, if you already have a prescription you have already discussed this in some way. If you doctors does not realize that you are depressed, and you are just taking them without his knowledge, he needs to know about the depression too.
He may want you to take that or a combination of something else. There are many new medications on the market today that work as well, if not better than Valium that do have an anti-depressant agent in them and work for more than just one problem. Please make sure you tell him all of your problems and the reason you think you need the Valium. It is used more for your nerves and has a calming effect.
Hope you will feel better soon….:)
you can but you need to talk to your dockter..
no, it is a depressant for your nervous system and can affect your bodily functions depending on your stature, dosage, etc
Valium is not a drug to be messing around with and is used more so as a calming drug and can also be very addictive if it is not monitored correctly. Its more for anxiety attacks and people with sever mental health.
Valium is usually prescribed by doctors for an anxiety disorder. You should only take if it is prescribed by your doctor.
It is potentially addictive and you should never try to self-medicate yourself.
It is a commonly abused drug used by people just to get high. You shouldn’t take it without a prescription because you can get arrested for it.
No, Valium is a depressant like alcohol and will make you feel worse if you are depressed.
No, Valium is actually a depressant and can work against any depression you are experiencing. It can also become addictive, but I don’t think anti-depressants are. It would be wise to get info on the side effects from a Dr, pharmacist, or the RX Drug Handbook.
There are many negative side effects with valium! unlike many antidepressants, valium IS habit-forming… meaning it is addictive physically and emotionally. It can also cause serious damage to the liver and kidneys.
It should only be taken under supervision of a doctor, like any other prescription drug. The use of anti-depressants of any kind should not be taken lightly!!
No way That is a traquilizer you need an antidepressant
Sorry to disagree with many others, but Valium, a bezodiazipine, does indeed have a mild anti-depressive factor, but it’s so light as to be pretty much useless for major depression.
I speak from experience Valium does work well as an anti depressant I’ve been takeing since 1982

Hi Caligrl. I think you should seriously consider asking your physician _ANY_ questions about VALIUM or _ANY_ antidepressant medications!
Good luck!!

No, I’d think it would have the opposite effect.
Anyway, you do not want to be on valium long term, it’s very addictive.
